Women's Day celebrations have inspired us to continue to empower women to take the big bold step into the wonderful world of entrepreneurship. In the dynamics we're in, being a mumpreneur is where we need to be because when you think about it, this is the greatest time in history for women to build an online business and reach a global market-place. For all those curious to know more or eager to get started, here are some simple steps and strategies to help you get on the right track. These ideas will help you can gain clarity and flexibility to build a business aligned to your true self.

Simple Strategies to Mumpreneur Success

Set your Workspacehome-office

Create a workspace that you love, surround yourself with beautiful things that inspire and will spark creativity. You don't need an office, just a room, desk or a dedicated corner in your home will work marvelously. Make your space your own - add photos, inspiration boards or little treasures which will remind you of how great it is to be your own boss. Setting a dedicated space is essential because rather than working from the kitchen, the bedroom or any other room in your house, you will go to this place when it's time to switch into work mode and you'll leave when it's time to switch off.
TIP - Find a way to separate yourself from the rest of the goings-on in the home. Create a clear boundary between family time and work time.

Set Work Hours

Being disciplined is key. Schedule times for work and stick to them. Respect and keep your date with your business with the same level of commitment and dedication you would keep for a traditional work task. Being a mumpreneur means that you have the gift of being flexible and carving time slots during the day which work for you so take advantage of that.
TIP - Setting work hours contributes to your life balance, and should also help you be more productive and organize your day.

reward-yourselfReward Yourself

We've seen so many mumpreneurs transform their little idea into an empire and you can do the same. Hard work pays off! Find time to reward yourself and celebrate your successes as small as they may be. Moving from one milestone to another is no easy feat so find it in your heart to give yourself a pat on the back - you're doing a great job mumpreneur!
TIP - Set aside a small  percentage of your monthly income  this is your reward fund. Set one or two specific dates per year where you must use the reward fund to buy something that you’ve always wanted.

Plan & Schedule

You're a budding entrepreneur and a marvelous mum so you've got a lot on your plate. The secret to building a successful business boils down to your ability to plan and schedule work effectively. Plan in advance and then fine-tune your schedules on a regular basis. Keep notes, plan meetings and brainstorming sessions in the time-slots that make most sense for you and treat your business like it's a fully fledged business because, it is.
TIP - Establish a strategy, design a work plan and set goals that you would like to reach. Planning is key.

Create Systems in your businesses

From the very start, create systems and procedures within your business which will make work flow and communication with prospective clients effective and easier. Design templates and set a structure to your business, create a professional aura about all that is related to your brand. Create solid foundations for a business which might eventually employ team members who will keep to the standards that you have set.
TIP - If we’re going to create the kind of speed that’s necessary for a high growth business, systems will give you leverage.

We're in the 21st century and technology is our friend. For those of you who aren't techies and dismiss the idea of embracing technology for fear of failure, stop for a moment and think of the millions invested by tech companies to make their solutions intuitive. Tech really is on your side and can help you maximize your savings and productivity.

Here are some of our favourite tools we'd love you to explore.
  • Dropbox simplifies the way you create, collaborate and share. It's your online safe space for all your photos, docs, and videos.
  • Canva makes design simple even for those of us who don't have an ounce of creative skills. Here's the place where you can create designs for web or print.
  • 24me - your very own personal assistant and one of our top favourites. It uses artificial intelligence to tell you what to do and how to do it.
  • If you're keen on work faster and smarter Quip is your perfect solution. It allows you to collaborate with others on documents, spreadsheets and checklists.
  • Shopify is a great e-commerce platform that has everything you need to sell online, on social media, or in person.

Make money & make the world better

Our JobsforMumsMalta team has designed an initiative to help start up mumpreneurs and support businesses run by women, entrepreneurs and freelancers. The Women Business Directory is a dedicated space where mumpreneurs can showcase their talents and businesses and reach their target audience. The minimal fee of 50euros is full donated to  St Jean Antide Foundation. This NGO will put the collected donations towards subsidising training courses, in full or in part, to underprivileged women in their community.‚Äč
